Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy

Carried out by

Debbie Pearce Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy

This Policy document has been created because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register) have advised that Registrants who can maintain the 2-metre social distancing requirement and who have full infection control measures in place may return to face-to-face work from 4th July.

In response to this I have moved my office to a garden cabin. I have made this decision because I am able to adhere to 2 metre social distancing in this environment. My new office is also better ventilated, and I can minimise contact points.

Please note that I do not have bathroom facilities in my new office, but clients will still be able to access a bathroom in the house if needed. This will be kept purely for the benefit of clients and will be disinfected between each client.

I will be offering face to face appointments again from 9th July 2020. I am pleased that I can offer my services again and look forward to seeing you as soon as possible.

My priority is the health and safety of clients and myself, and to re-open my business safely. I have implemented some changes which I would like to make you aware of. During the time, my business has been forced to close due to the Pandemic, I have completed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control Workshop, certified by SOLUTIONS4THERAPISTS.  I have now made a number of changes in the way that I operate in order to ensure that my business can continue to function and provide high standards of service in a safe way.

Booking Appointments

If I (or a member of my household) feels ill or has symptoms of C0VlD-19, I will self-isolate immediately and will not remain open for business. This may mean that I have to cancel your appointment and at short notice. I appreciate that this may be inconvenient, but rest assured it is done entirely for the safety of everyone. Should your appointment be cancelled you will be able to re-book at a later date.

If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of COVlD-19, please advise us as soon as possible and please DO NOT ATTEND the premises FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT.  I will contact you 24 hours before your appointment to check if you or your household are displaying any symptoms.

All client consent forms and questionnaires will now be sent to you electronically and I will ask you to reply to them electronically in advance of your session.

Visiting my premises

To keep you safe and maintain social distancing, I ask that you attend your appointments as close to the appointment time as possible. My therapy office is now in the garden behind the house. When you approach the house, you will see that the gate to the garden on the right hand side of the house has been left open for you. Please walk into the garden and you will see my therapy cabin in front of you, I will be waiting for you there. Disposable face masks, hand sanitizer and shoe covers will be available for anyone who requires them.

I have increased the frequency of cleaning within my therapy room including making sure that common surfaces, door handles etc. are wiped clean using disinfectant products between each client. I will also leave at least 1 hour’s gap between each client and will air my therapy room between each client.

In the interests of good hand hygiene, I would encourage you to use the hand sanitiser available for you to use when you come into the therapy room.

I will understand and not be offended if you wish to wear a face mask and/or wear disposable gloves when you visit the premises and during your therapy. If it is comfortable to do so, I would prefer it if clients wear face masks while attending their appointments. I will provide disposable face masks for this purpose if required.

Please note that I will not wear a face mask during the hypnosis part of a session.

I can confirm that the safe laundering of blankets and cushions will take place after every session. Blankets and disposable couch rolls will be used on chairs and replaced after each client.

All such items will be bagged and safely removed from the therapy room in between each client.

Unfortunately I will not be able to provide drinks at this time, please bring bottled water or anything you need with you.

Hypnotherapy Treatments

A typical session for hypnotherapy lasts at least 90 minutes and consists of a 45-minute counselling session and a 45-minute hypnosis session. To minimize the face-to-face contact time I will split this into 2 sessions.

With existing clients, you can choose:

1.    To attend in person for both parts of the session

2.    To have the counselling part of the session on Zoom and attend in person for the hypnosis part of the session

3.    To attend the counselling part of the session in person and receive a recording of the hypnosis part of the session. If you choose this option, I will arrange to contact you on Zoom to follow up after you have listened to the recording.

4.    To have the counselling session on Zoom, followed by a hypnosis recording and a Zoom follow up after you have listened to your recording.

If you are a new client, I will recommend that you attend both parts in person for the first session. If this is not possible for you, please call me and we will come up with an alternative solution.

During your therapy session

I will always endeavor to make your therapy session safe, comfortable and enjoyable. If you have any concerns about your therapy session, please let me know and I will do what I can to address these.

After the treatment

To avoid handling of cash, I would prefer that you pay for your therapy session by PayPal or by a bank transfer on the day of your session. If you are only able to pay by cash, please bring the correct amount in a sealed envelope with your name on it.

I will continue to take advice from the Government and the NHS regarding safe practice and will amend this policy as necessary.

Thank you for your understanding and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Debbie Pearce
